Start With The Operation
We focus on commercial health and safety advice for the people who commission, manage and supervise work. That includes contractors, facilities managers, manufacturers, commercial landlords, schools and office teams. The purpose is to help you make decisions that improve how risks are controlled.
A clear brief makes better use of your time. We ask what is happening, why you need advice and which outcome would make the assignment useful. The service can then be defined around an assessment, an audit, a policy or continuing competent-person assistance.
Proportionate To The Risk
Advice should reflect the work, the people exposed and the seriousness of the potential harm. A general office review and an assessment of an industrial maintenance task need different evidence. We aim to clarify that distinction before you commission the work.
We use the relevant legal framework and HSE guidance to inform the scope. HSE’s HSG65 describes a Plan, Do, Check, Act approach to managing health and safety. It is a useful structure for connecting responsibilities, implementation, checking and review without making documents the only measure of progress.
Roles Must Be Explicit
Your employer duties remain with your business. An adviser can help identify hazards, explain requirements and review evidence, while your managers decide resources and implement controls. The appointment should define those boundaries and how advice reaches the people responsible.
Technical testing, statutory examinations and specialist assessments need the right capability and a separate scope where relevant. A general consultancy assignment should not be presented as proof that those activities have been completed. Formal construction dutyholder roles also need an express appointment.
Agree What Happens Next
Before work begins, confirm the activities and premises included, the expected deliverables and any exclusions. Share client requirements and deadlines at the scoping stage. If further information is needed before a useful proposal can be made, that should be clear.
Your enquiry may be passed to a suitable local firm with your agreement. The enquiry form asks for that permission before you send your details. You can read more about how the information is used in the privacy policy.
